Pissouromoutti Trail: the Smigies hill loop and practical checks

Current verified snapshot — source checked 2 October 2026

Visit Cyprus describes Pissouromoutti as a 3 km circular walk from Smigies picnic site, approximately 2 hours, difficulty 2, with uphill and downhill gradients. These are source-checked route facts, not today’s opening or safety confirmation. Love Akamas has not physically inspected the route for this update.

What we currently know

  • The route climbs towards the hilltop before returning to Smigies. Its short distance does not remove the ascent and descent.
  • The official webpage lists the starting altitude as 285 m and highest point as 400 m. These are published elevations, not a measured total ascent.
  • Views extend towards both the southern coast and Chrysochou Bay. Part of the route passes through pine woodland; that does not promise shade for the whole walk.
  • The webpage describes drinking water at the picnic site. We have not checked that a supply is running or potable today: bring your own.

Uncertain / needs field checking

Current trail signs, footing, approach-road restrictions, parking, toilets and water supply are unverified. Do not confuse this loop with either Smigies route simply because they start in the same area. Our planning advice: check the signed trail name, carry water and suitable footwear, and follow current closure instructions.

Contribute newer first-hand evidence

Please add date, route followed, exact junction or section and photographs of signs or obstacles. Reports about the picnic area and approach should say what was actually observed, including vehicle type if relevant.

Forestry’s online trail list gives Pissouromoutti as 1.5 hours, whereas the Visit Cyprus figure above is approximately 2 hours. These are attributed planning estimates, not guaranteed completion times. The trail-specification correction record records this difference; allow a margin when planning a return bus.
